We designed a luxury family home gym overlooking the swimming pool, flooded with natural light thanks to extensive glazing. The brief was to create a refined yet highly functional space that felt open, calm, and visually connected to the rest of the home.
One of the key architectural features of the room was the impressive 3.6-metre ceiling height. While dramatic, tall ceilings can often make a space feel cold, empty, or acoustically harsh if not handled carefully. To soften the proportions and bring warmth and cohesion to the room, we introduced a bespoke wooden feature that wraps seamlessly around both the walls and ceiling. This not only grounds the space visually but also adds texture, warmth, and a strong architectural identity.
The client had bold lime-green window reveals, which we wanted to subtly echo throughout the gym rather than fight against. We carried this colour through the equipment selection, pairing it with a bespoke green leather-upholstered adjustable weight bench and extending the accent into the dumbbells and bespoke dumbbell storage.
The strength zone features Watson equipment throughout, including dumbbells ranging from 2.5kg to 30kg and a squat rack with an integrated cable machine. All strength areas were carefully protected with gym flooring and a dedicated lifting platform to preserve the wooden floor beneath while maintaining a premium finish.
For the cardio area, we selected Technogym equipment. As market leaders in the space, Technogym’s Personal Line felt like a natural fit for this project. The final setup includes an elliptical, rowing machine, and treadmill , each chosen for both performance and aesthetics.
To further enhance the sense of space and functionality, we installed full-height wall mirrors behind the squat rack. These visually open up the room while allowing users to safely check their form during training.
